Default My engine make me some touble

when i switch off y engine, he didn't die immeditely
normaly that occur when your engine run too lean! but i don't have any pingping (don't rember english word for this! detonation?)
so i don't undestand why my engine make this!

i hve tune y mixture on my holley 4160 750cfm with a vaccum gauge (try to have biggest value at idle), it was near 14Hig (normal for my engine for GMPP and sallee chevrolet)

any idea

Detonation is the right word.

Dieseling (engine run on) can also be caused by a too high idle.

Try a search on "dieseling".

To high of and idle or to much initial advance would cause run on problems.

my initial timing advance is set at a little less than 10°

but it's true that my idle is a little hight!
1200rpm on P to have 800rpm on D
my idle isn't always the same! sometime near 1500 and sometime near 900rpm (in Park) but my gauge don't work correctly but electronique devince inside is new
gauge say 6500rpm but my rev limiter don't act (rev limiter set at 6000rpm)

i'm a little lost with this engine tunning (never find the real good one)

Hey Man, how's that driveshaft working out?? installed??

also, on that tune, you need idle not above 800 in neutral/park, and it's consistant....block off ALL vacuum accessories to eliminate any leaking in systems....so manifold runs as i'ts own sealed system....make damn sure your carb gasket matches manifold to carb base without any strange slots, and vacuum ports being exposed...not allways easy swap on that crap....
Sounds like an airleak from somewhere....when idle is down to 800 in newtral, you should be able to switch of and it fine....

set timeing to 8 degrees BTDC.... disconnect vacuum advance canister, plug line to manifold....
for setting initial advance, and for test, for now....

after that, email or pm me....lemme know what's new...

an easy way to find out if you have abad vacum leak is to hold something (solid) over the carburator blocking the air. If it still runs..big vacum leak.
I used to live near Chominix in Vallorcine, near the swiss border...way up there(Terra Hautte?)
