Default Door Clip Tool?

Is it just me? I've used needle nose pliers several times to remove the door lock **** on my 73. Decided that I would invest in the "Right" tool this go round. Purchased the Door Clip Tool and to my surprise, it didn't work

I have power windows and it appears that this tool is used for the manual window crank. Or is it? I need it for the door lock ****.

Is it just me that can't use a specialty tool correcly or is there something else that works better than a pair of needle nose pliers? Did not see a tool for this in any of the top supplies catelogs.

Let me know if I need to keep my needle nose pliers on duty.

Thanks

Mine works like a charm. $2 generic from AutoZone or Car Quest or somewhere similar.

When I insert the tool I have behind the lock ****, the surounding lever plate interferes with the tool going in all the way.

Here's a link to the tool I have. Does yours look like this?

you have to grind the width to fit inside the trim; now you have a custom tool!

Ahhhh.... a simple solution. Just what the doctor ordered.

That should work fine. Although I gotta tell you, I got pretty good with those needle nose pliers.

Thanks

Sometimes a shop rag will catch the clip and pull it off. A small screwdriver will also work if you can see the end of the C clip. I have a tool but sometimes old body shop tricks work.

I just use a hook that came with a hook and pick kit. Hook the top of the clip, and it pops right off.
