Default Setting TV cable...quick help?

Could someone give me a quick explanation on setting a 700r4 TV cable? I have a TPI set-up but all the cables are the same for 700r4.

I asked in the C4 section and got a couple of links and a smart azz reply, so I’m hoping someone could explain a little better for me.

I’m thinking that your supposed to press the “D” shaped release clip and push the adjustment all the way back, then have someone push the gas pedal to WOT….the adjustment should move forward and then stop? And that’s pretty much it?

no you really have to read the instructions....www.700r4.com at BTO has them...

you need to have the plunger in the trans depressed a certain distance at WOT..... i actually made my adjustment with the trans pan off so i could see it.

The BTO instructions are better than the set in the service manual.

If you are using TPI setup then the geometry of the TV cable stud on the throttle linkage at the throttle body will be correct. The BTO setup instructions are more for guys that use carbs with an incorrect geometry. Great instructions for learning the theory though. You were correct in describing how to adjust a TPI style setup.
