carb troubles
I have a 290hp crate engine. weiand intake, brand new Edelbrock 1405 600cfm carb. I am having troubles with the carb. The timing is 12* initial, 32 total. New fuel pump, reg set at 5.5. When I floor it from a dead stop it stumbles, If I sit and hold the brake in gear and give it some gas it stumbles and black smoke comes out of the pipes. if I rev it up in park smoke comes out when the rpms get up there. I noticed the pipes have sooty on the inside. I have adjusted the idle screws. Still it is rich off idle. What should I try??

Put another 4 degrees initial in it.
An off idle stumble is generaly a lean condition. You can have an overly rich idle and still have a stumble if the accelerator pump system is not right.

I have tried moving the accelerator pump arm up to top hole and to the lower hole and it did'nt improve. It seems like it isnt loading up at idle but maybe it is. All I know is when I put it in gear with my foot on the brake and step on the gas a little black smoke comes out. It feels like its choking or stumbling almost like the choke is closed. Which is wired open.
