Cylinder head install question

Had a blown head gasket on my '70 L46, so the heads are off and at the machine shop. When I reinstall, do any of the head bolts other than the row nearest the exhaust manifold need thread sealer? Is permatex OK, or is something else recommended?

Which Permatex, they have lots of products. Use one that is stated compatible with coolant and I install it on all the bolts. I use ARP thread sealant, I've used Fel Pro Grey Bolt prep and 3M weatherstrip adhesive works great too.

Most sbc head bolts go into water. I just seal them all.

I just did mine a week ago and used thread sealent high performance from pep boys and yep put it on all of them .

Hows is it going Bill. I use non-hardening Permatex #2 on all of them.
It's about time you started working on the 70 instead of playing with the C5 all the time.
