Anybody With A 1981
Simple question. What are the wires running to my smog/air pump? I would like to cut the belt and possibly remove the unit. Pros and cons? My computer is disconnected on my car, and I'm running a stock (for now) 1980 carb and cam to compensate for the lack of computer, so anything computer-wise is disconnected. Is there anything I need to know about before removing the pump?

If you do not have to deal with smog check, you can remove the pump. About the only thing to deal with is the plugs for the air ports in the headers ( I would just get new ones) You will need to change a couple bolts out on the water pump that are very long or are studs to mount the air pump. disconnect the connectors on the pump and tie them bacl on the wire harness at the firewall
