Poly Fuel Cell/Tank
It's a Speedway Street Rod poly cell. I got a 87 vette fuel tank sending unit off ebay and put a new pump in just for good measure...
I modded it slightly to accept -6 an fittings for supply and return -6 is plenty for my meager 500HP. Due to the depth of the cell and the anti slosh foam I was not able to get the stock fuel level sender to work so i just put in the after market stick.
the top is a piece of sheet metal with 1/4-20 bolts welded in to make studs to moun the sending unit. The sheet metal is then sealed to the cell with RTV and 1/4" blind closed end pop rivits.
I use a AC Delco G632 stainless fuel filter.
The foam is straight off the Speedway site. I left a 4" square well in the foam where the pickup and pump are. The stock (87) foot screen is positioned via the hose that mounts it to be just touching the bottom of the cell. I used Oetiker stainless ear clamps to secure the hose to the pump outlet and to the supply tube. I used Aeroquip socketless hose and fittings until I can fab up the stainless tube where I want it...
I have a plumbed in an electric fuel pressure sender and it reads 49-51 PSI all the time.
I sweated (it;s just soldered in) out the unleaded baffle in the filler tube and use some silcone hose to connect it to an un-vented billet alloy aircraft filler cap. The stock 87 vent was used with a piece of oem fuel line. BTW the filler cap cost almost as much as the entire rest of the setup.
Note that this setup has only NO more tip over protection than a stock system.

also, what do yuo figure the distortion it can take in a crash, w/o tearing open? Did you go with the cell for saftey?

It's pretty tough... I will use an ATL or Fuel Safe unit when I get closer to completion. Safety... NO Cheap easy and fit my CUSTOM bodywork. I have inside of hatch back and roll cage where you have tank I think.
For safety I have a 5 lb on board halon system with three nozzles... Fuel tank, cockpit, engine compartment I will prolly add another 5lb automatic unit for the cockpit as a separate system.
Also, since your gearing up for competition, are you running a fuel shutoff valve? I have a post running but no responses. Do you know where I can get an -8an one?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure Halon is non corrosive...
No valve yet. I just kill the fuel pump with the master cutoff. Why -8? you looking for BIG Power?

I agree, I think I remember reading Halon is the non corrosive chemical.
I found a nice valve from Kinsler, should have it by this weekend.
I ran -8an b/c I wanted to play it safe. Once everyone on here starts running turbo's and SC's I'll want to play too so I figured I might as well plumb the car now for big power in the event I actually go that route in the future. Its a cousin disease of the "while I'm at it" flu. The SS teflon braided lines also make repairs, modification & replacement easy.
