i went to ONE car show and ONE cruise nite the whole year with my vette. yea so a 69 small block coupe, "non matching numbers needs paint.. oh those headers arent origional, holleys didnt come on 300 horse cars" thats when i had a fit and almost blew up on the guys face. look this is what a senior in high school can afford. so what if i blew the origional 350 up. I'm having fun, I drive my corvette; its never seen a damn trailer, unlike the idiots that sink 125 grand into a car to drive it on and off a trailer!
but then on the other hand its great to see the 5 year old kids running up to the car, trying to get a peek under the hood, if i see a kid drooling over my car, I'll let him hop on in and imagine what its like to be behind the wheel. thats keeping the tradition alive. not sinking a years pay or more into just a car and never drive it cuz you might get dirt on it
Up where I live most Corvette owners are jerks. And it doesn't matter what year it is either. They know about our club, think we are jerks, want work done for free, blah blah blah...I couldn't beleive the wonderful people I met when I went to the Black Hills last year for the Black Hills Corvette Classic in Spearfish, S.D. They were all interested in the young and dumb Canadians yellow 74 Corvette (that would be me). I am in need of everything from bumper to bumper but the enthusiam that my car drew from C4 and C5 people was awesome! They wanted to know about this and that, where I was from, how I fit the wheels on...I loved it! They even cheered me on at the drags and the autocross!! I never get that kind of attention at home. I guess what I am saying is that there is different kinds of Corvetter's and I just happened to meet the nice ones. Any they just so happened to be c4/c5 guys.
I hear ya.
The other night I had my vette out for a drive, I pulled up next to a NEW
ZO6..SWEET! I was glad I just detailed my car. I rolled down the window smiled and waved, the passanger in the car saw me, rolled their eyes and
flicked their cigarrette out the window, amazing! That is the last time I
INITIATE a wave to any vettes newer then mine.-TK
:mad
No, there are some good C5ers. I know my C3 can't perform like a C5, but a C5 won't draw a crowd like an older restored vette. Be happy. Don't let anyone steal your joy. It just isn't worth it in this very short life.

Hey so what if I drop my years pay in to my car. :jester
Of course being a college freshman trying to focus on school, my years pay barally exceeds...well lets just say I have enough $$$ for the vette, and "something to drink" on a saturday night...what more can I need? As for a trailer...Mine only saw one once...and thats because my brakes sucked and I could get them working to save my life, so I had to trailor it to a shop so I didn't kill myself...but I drove it home(if that counts for anything). :D
Anyway, I too have been within "spitting" distance to a newer vette, and didn't get so much as a look... :nonod: its a shame, notice when people talk about Cool C4 and C5 drivers, they talk about forum memebers....the C4 and C5 village is bigger then the C3 village, and you know what they say "the bigger the village the more idiots you have to look after" (the forum members are the non-idiots by the way)....
I hear ya.

Learn what Rhys? Sorry but that was just plain rude IMO.
Besides I have heard that the newer car should initiate the wave..
right or wrong...teach me
(Disclaimer:the following is ficitious but represents how I feel)I get in my car and go for a cruise on a friday night start it up and head on out. I am going along and see a brand spanking new corvette, I glance at it and think hey that's a nice car real fast, great handling (although the rear is a bit large, but that's just me I guess) nice looking car. I am driving further along the street and see an LT-1 like mine and saw hey someone has some taste ( :yesnod: ) and give a small wave. I make my turn and head back and see a TPI vette and say that's a great car to build up, looks good even though it isn't the newest thing out there, he could bought a newer LT-1 Z28 but likes the style and all of corvettes and give a small wave again. I am crossing the bridge and head home and spot a late 70's vette, I think hey that guy has a cool car, I know there not the fastest vette but a very nice looking car and turn my head a bit to take a second look while giving a wave and a thumbs up. Almost to my house an see a late 60's vette, my neck catches a mild case of whiplash while my hands turn the wheel and I follow the guy even though I was heading home. I catch up to him just to give him a wave and thumbs up and asks about his car. Then proceed to turn back and go home for sure this time.

Hopefully you'll learn not to be as stuck up as you sound now. Be part of the solution, not the problem.
A lot of the guys who have been here a while have seen the never ending saga of the "C5(C4) owners never wave". There are corvette (car) guys and non corvette guys. Its not the year corvette drive that determines if they are an a$ $hole or not.
Ok- So now I sound stuck up.... That was the way it was explaied to me when I asked about waving when I first got my vette.
BTW your right- its not the year of the car which determines if
someone is an a**hole or not. Point well made.-Travis
Not me. If you own a 1980 with a smog-choked 305 or a '69 ZL1, or a Corvette from 1953 to 2002 I will talk with you forever! I love to talk about old/new technology.
That LG4 Vette isn't that like the ONLY year(1980) that a 305 was offered in a vette? My friend had one in a 1984 firebird, it got pretty good mileage. It made like 155 hp in the firebird do they give it higher compression or something to make 180HP in the vette? I still have a performer cam I was going to put in my 92 305 firebird almost forgot about it (204-214, .420-.440) If you want to mod it I heard the the vortec heads are good but have 64cc chambers and may lower the compression ratio.Anyway just curious about whether or not that's the only year they made the LG4 vette?
When I see a vette older than mine I wave and hope they wave back to include me in the corvette family.
When I wave at a newer vette I am trying to include them in the vette family.
When I wave at c4-c5 and they don't wave I think its no big loss they are just driving a car but if a c3 down doesn't wave I think they need educated on the wave thing.
i've met the "the good, the bad,and the ugly". it's not worth getting upset over, and this used to bother me too. but i figured it out,the C5 guys that don't talk to you are secretly pissed off that you have a C3,the body style the general public still LOVES and gathers more attention at car cruises than their C5's. they secretly wish they could own a C3,but don't have the knowledge & patience and/or $$$ to restore and keep a 20 yr old vette on the road. they're JEALOUS!!!! we have something that for the most part, $$$ can't buy!!! that's is why some of them won't talk to you.some wanted a vette all their life, then old uncle so-and-so died, left them a pot of $$$,so they buy a vette, not really knowing anything about them, other than they always wanted one. and with ownership, they think they'll join the local club. ask the Harley riders, the same thing goes on in their circle. i could go on,but i decided about 3 yrs ago that I WILL WAVE,regardless of all the BS.i decided i didn't want to resemble the old Corvette joke, "what's the difference between a corvette and a porcupine??" " on a porcupine the ****** are on the outside!!!!" SAVE THE WAVE!!!!
I just stopped by to check out info for a friend who picked up his first Vette today, a very sweet '82 CE. Of course I reminded him to "save the wave".
I wave at any Vette and will continue to do so. It makes me feel good even if the other driver doesn't see me or wave back. I know that sometimes I don't see the other Vette in time to wave.

I hope this was meant to be a joke.
And as far as characterizing a person by the car they drive, and crying because someone didn't wave to you. Give me a break. If thats the worst thing that happens in your life, you have it made.

You are right!! I've been riding for nearly 30yrs, and finally lived the dream by purchasing my first Harley five years ago. All these years I have noticed that the majority of Harley guys "don't wave" at the imports! That is wrong. Your a member of the "Two Wheel Fraternity" requardless what you ride. I always wave at import riders when I'm out.. and it's cool to see the suprise on their faces when they wave back. For the short time I haver owned my Vette.. I have found the same to be true with the c-4 and c-5 owners. They seem to snub their noses at my lil ol 77. But I don't let it bother me..I just think. F--- em if they are not friendly... I won't let them dictate my mood.. I'm gonna wave, and continue down the road with a bigger grin than they have! :D :D :D :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya :seeya
