new vette owners suk
I had ran across a group of 4 c-5's the other week @ the sonic. All hanging out BSing etc... o I pulled through and yeah they looked up (its rather loud and lopey with the 274h cam) and give me that look. You know that one where you can tell they disaprove of you. Well I pull by wave and try to be polite. Sure enough snubbed. Well Saving face I pulled in one of the empty slots got a shake and left (Did not want to give them the pleasure of thinking I came in to say hey.) Now I was p/o at the snubbing, and could easily smoked out the lot but did not give em the satisfaction.
Anyways yesterday coming back to work from lunch a guy in a new c-5 scared the poopie out of me! I was tooling along in my own world when I see this guy in my rearview in a blue vette weaving traffic left and right and moving **** coming up. I figure gr8t some clown just got a new toy. Well he comes flying up beside me honking that horn waving etc... jeez scared the poopie out of me! One sec he is flying then is beside me like some crazed monkey after a banana. lol It was funny I reckon but I waved and smiled like a good vette owner would.
Hate, hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't wave. With their big rear end and tinted windows, and the exhaust plates-God, they drive me crazy.
You know who else I hate? C4 guys. Oh, I do hate those guys. I don't wave at them, either. They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with their stupid saw blade wheels. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as those old bastards who only bought their C5s as a status symbol. You know what I call those guys? "Mid-life crisis wanna-bees" Get it? They don’t know what owning a Corvette is all about. I bet they don't even change their own oil. They drive around like they've got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere else, Grampa, and while you're at it, I'm not waving to you.
Modded C4 guys-I don't wave at them either. Why don't they spend a little more money on their vettes? "You can have it in any color you want, as long as it's red." Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a Shinoda-whatever body is, anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I never, ever wave at those guys.
Modded C3 guys are even worse. I mean, are you driving a vette or an Acura? Those guys and their huge tires and hoods are you kidding me? Anyways, I'd never wave at an orange vette. Ever.
C2 guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either. They always have their convertible tops down and wear those stupid sunglasses sitting on top of their stupid noses, but God forbid they should wear a seatbelt. They make me so mad.
Sometimes they'll speed by and look over at me and you know what I do? I don't wave. I just keep on going. Please, don't get me started on split-window guys. 96’s? What, are you kidding? Collector’s Edition my butt.
I never wave at L98 guys.
I drive my 78, and I'll only wave at 78 guys, but even then, I'll never wave at a 78 with aftermarket wheels. Never, never, never. Yeah, like you're going to take your vette to the drag strip or something.
Guys in C3’s with non-pop-up headlights never get a wave from me, and by the way, neither will the guys with 77’s with add on spoilers. And I'll tell you who else I'm not waving at-those guys with the loud paintjobs.
Two hundred pounds of paint on a two hundred pound body-like I'm going to wave back to that! I'll also never wave at someone without mirrored t-tops. Or Pace Cars with stickers. Or luggage racks. Or wearing Levis.
To me, Corvettes are like a family, a close-knit brotherhood of people who drive 78’s, have stock wheels, stock paint jobs, and wear Oakleys (not Raybans) with no gloves and a mirrored t-tops, no sidepipes with no stickers, no exhaust plates and no window tint. And isn't that what really makes Corvettes so special?

Makes me no difference if they wave or not, only fastest matters.

Aren't there enough Mustangs, Vipers, Supras, etc. for us to not get hung up on inter-generational squabbles?
Wave, don't wave, whatever. Enjoy your car for what it is, a Corvette. If you can share the enjoyment of your hobby with other Corvette enthusiasts, regardless of the generation, that's cool. If not, that's cool too. Life is just too short, and cars just too unimportant in the greater scheme of things, to worry about this stuff.
I gotta print your dissertation out Rhys, that's worth saving :yesnod:
Peace all, (and waves too :seeya ... except you Blkblt - I ain''t waving at no '66s  )

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
When reading your reply I realized I have been or am currently everyone of those guys you won't wave to. Just to be sure I'm pitching the rally's on my 71 and putting on some 22" wires.

Thanks for a great laugh,
And yes I do judge alot of people by what they drive.
A guy who drives a 4-door Kcar with mud tread on the back is usually a simple minded retard.
And someone who drive a junk truck thru alleys and picks up trash probley does live like Fred Sanford.
There arent very many minorities around here so if you see what a white guy is driving it pretty well reflecs everything about them.
I wear Levies, tee shirt and Nikes all the time even if in the vette, not the little shorts,Alligater shirt and penny loafers, with my hair slicked back and the ring, braclet and fake Rolex.
So with me its what you see is what you get.
Rhys if you are telling the truth about who you wave at good going about telling it the way it is!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish I had one.
Hell, I wish I had a bunch of Corvettes. They don't even have to be particularly rare or stock or loaded. Any Corvette will put a grin on your face and make you stand out in a crowd.
Alas, I have to settle for waving to all those lucky bas tards who have all those Corvettes I don't have. If they don't wave back, that's okay. Just seeing their cars on the road brightens my day.

I am Chuck and own a 99 C5. I have a couple of things to contribute here. First I would like to say that the corvette owners you ran into were NOT representative of the whole group.
I go to many car shows. I even try to get into the hot rod shows but I am rejected many times due to the newness of my car. Oh well, their loss.
I travel to most shows with a good friend who owns a completely restored red 62. We believe our cars compliment each other and park next to each other when ever possible.
My car gets a lot of attention but my buddy's gets a lot more.
I am one of only two newer Vettes in my club and I know how hard it is to drive a straight axle and how hard it is to keep a mid year in running condition.
I await the day when my car is 20 years old and I can complain about the new guys not waving to me.
Best of the wave to you!!
Those that have a 'Vette and don't participate in the camaraderie that come with it are missing the best feature the car brings with it. I guess there are a number of newbi C5 owners out there who don't get it. Oh well:seeya
As far as C5 drivers go, for most of them it's their first Vette and it's a status symbol of their wealth and success. Old cars don't impress those shallow types.
