Default Installing Electric Fuel Pump ???

OK, I am going to switch over to an electric fuel pump and have a few questions for those of you that have done it.

Plan on running the pump off of a relay, mounted under the dash. But did you run a new wire to the back or is there something I can pull the feed of already around the tail panel?? The alarm maybe??

I ran a new wire to the back and grounded the pump using the mounts to the frame. Make sure you use a wire with a weather resistant sheath and don't skimp on wire gauge. For a length like that I would suggest 14 gauge. I ran as much of mine as I could along the frame and loomed it where I could for extra protection.

I ran a dedicated wire to the pump as well. I tied it into the the ign source behind the center console and installed a safety shut off switch. I also ran the ground wire the same way. Mine runs on the frame rail for a short distance and then I drilled a hole into the rear compartment and snaked it towards the center right to the console. The carpet should hide it once I get my interior done. I like to have a separate shut off switch to the pump so I don't accidently turn the key too far and lock the colum. That would suck in a fire situation while driving. Plus there is a light on the switch that tells me the pump has juice.

Absolutely run a new circuit with minimum of 14 gauge but prefererably 12 gauge. I wish now that I had just upgraded my mechanical pump. It would be a lot easier and you dont have to listen to that darned thing.
