Thanks. But what he is selling turns your automatic into a manual. Not interested in that, or else I would have bought a manual. I just want something that will snap when I go throught the gears!!

send the vendor an email, he probably has exactly the kit you need. It is probably posted in his store. I bought most of my tranny parts from him, got no special deal, but he had what I needed

Get you a Summit catolog out and pick one.
Myself , I like B&M. Stage 1 is for grannies, go with stage 2 so you know when the trans shifts!!!!!!!!!!!
All you need it the B&M shift improver kit($32.95) not a trans kit
If you can afford it, get some B&M trans fluid and top the trans off with it, but its not nessasary at all.
One other thing to do also is get a small pocket strait screw driver and pull the vacuum line off the modulator on the side of the trans and stick the screw driver up in where the vacuum line came off and feel for the slot that the screw driver will fit in and turn it clockwise 1 full turn.
That will delay shifts about 5 MPH and shift later instead of being in 3rd before you get across the intersection!
Just did it today, mine shifts at about 1500RPMs when just normal cruising, talk about neck stapping!

I've had the B&M shift improver in mine since around '78 with B&M fluid....

I can bark my tires when I hit second at will & I'm stock with a 3:36 rear.........

Sorry their search is kind messed up so you will have to go to: "Shift kits, Valvebody kits, transgo" on the left then select "GM", then select "high performance" and scroll through a couple of pages to find the th400 kits. They are about $85.00

Check out these 2 kits. The "Pro" is something new and I have not used one before. I have used their regular performance reprograming kits in both th400's and th350's in the past. They hit hard and held up to many many dag strip passes and street abuse. I am telling you there is no better engineered valve body kit on the market.

46975-PRO TH400 Performance reprogramming kit.

46975-3 TH400 Performance reprogramming kit.

1000's have bought the B&M like myself in the past. What you will get are harder shifts all the time. you'll hear that chirp going into 2nd, and 3rd with enough hp; and if that's all your looking for go for it. the B&M kit is easy to install with the tranny in place (same can be done with trans-go).

if you are rebuilding the tranny, don't fiddle around -go with the trans-go. you'll need to drill a hole in the front pump cover, modify the main pressure regulator, etc. however, shifts are not so hard when not needed - this is nice after driving a car with hard shifts all the time. you also have more options for strip driving.

I want to thank everyone for their responses!!

I think I will go with the B & M kit, though, because of ease of installation...
