I am in the process of replaceing my Radiator on a 1979 w/L48 automatic--I am replacesing the original 3 core with a 4 core but have found that the tanks are larger on the 4 core--stock I believe is about 2 7/8 whereas the new ones are about 3 3/4 am haveing a hard time finding Rad bracket rubber insulators that will work--all parts houses don't give any dimensions in their catalogs. Hopeing that someone might be able to help.

You can buy the rubber insulators for the wider radiator - They were used on L82 engines. All of the vendors have them.
I also own a 1981 Corvette w/a L82 and it has the same size radiator as my 1979 The venders that I have spoken with list different insulators but do not carry them in stock and do not give any dimensions for the ones that are in their catalogs. I would have to order one of each and figure out which one would fit and then reorder enough to finish the mounting. If I am looking at my core support it also looks like I might have to modify it also to make the larger insulators fit.

Hmm...I found a good used set of the 4-row insulators on eBay. They drop right into the same spots as my old 3-row insulators. The notch is just a bit wider.

I actually found a G.M. parts man that could help with this problem he came up with a insulator that is used for a truck application but with very little trimming, especially on the top brackett, they look like they will work. Part #46264100--I believe these might be a common stocked item--at least they were with my G.M.dealer. So anyone else with this problem might try these and see if they will work for them..By the way they were $5.16 each.
