Timing mark is crazy
I have a new motor that I just installed. (357 comp cam RHS heads)I know when I built it the timing marks were right on. I have started it and ran it down the road all seems fine. I went to hook up the timing light with the can unhooked and pluged and the motor at about 900 rpm. I cant see the mark. But if I turn the dial on the light to say 36 the mark is at o.Then holding the light there and set at 36 I bring the RPMs up to say 3000 or even 4000 the mark never moves. I hook the can back up and I cant see the mark. Everything is brand new except for the distributor, its a mallory about two years old. Right now I have the lightest springs in it. Any help would be great Im lost. Thanks Randy

Sounds like you have full mechanical advance at 900 RPM. Try putting some stiffer springs in it and see what happens. My buddy runs his car on 36 degrees locked and it runs fine. The only hard thing about doing this is you might have a problem starting the car when it gets hot.
