I bought and took home my new kit and started working on it... took the pan off, took the valve body off (18 bolts) and then came a part that wasn't in the instructions ..... my th350 SHOULD HAVE a spacer plate (5 bolts) next to "S" hook valve, but I have some kind of cast iron, 2 inch thick valve .....
The kit says to use the spacer plate for re-assembly after the B&M plates, BUT I DON"T HAVE ONE ....
Do I have some special flavor of TH350 or something aftermarket in there? Also I have an electrical connection from LH sensor to a coil looking thingy, over to RH side, that I busted a wire on.... WHAT THE HECK IS THAT? I will surely need to fix it or replace it, but don't even know what it is or WHERE IT ATTACHES to valve body with its two bolt holes!!!!
Sounds like you have either a 250C or 350C transmission with the auxiliary valve body. These variations of the 350 have a torque-converter clutch (or lockup converter). You will probably have to get a special shift improver kit. I would give B&M a call and see if they have a kit specifically for this version.
You probably have a 350C, but are a few things to check to make sure its not a 250C. A 250C has a intermediate band adjuster screw at the right side of the case, doesn't have a vacuum modulator at the back end, and typically has a ribbed & galvanized oil pan.
I will check with them tomorrow .... I do have the vacuum modulator ....
Any idea of what the sender/sensor coil, electric motor looking thingy is - I FOUND OUT THAT IT IS THE TRANNY LOCKUP SOLENOID. Getting one sent to me as the wire broke off and no way to fix it. Anyone have a picture of their TH350C showing it bolted onto valve body, so I know where it goes (and maybe which terminals on the end connectors that it goes on (there is two posts on each end component) ?
Jason - you were correct, I do have a 350C ...... got the correct kit and going to put it in this weekend. Also have the Torque Converter solenoid on the way as well, but I don't know WHICH TERMINAL on the pressure switch in the valve body or the terminal on the housing connector that i have to hook it up to. The solenoid has a RED & BLACK wire with connectors and each component has TWO terminals ...
Any idea how to know which one I need to connect to?

Sorry, I can't help you there. I'm not real familiar with 350C's and I've never owned one. I've just read about them in a TH350 book I have. I couldn't find anything about the wiring.
While putting shifter transpac kit in for TH350C, I found the following irregularities/issues:
1) I was MISSING the accumilator spring altogether ... is that someones bubba fix for something or just "an extra part laying around" after an overhaul????? Does anyone know what the cause/effect is by not having that spring in there? (I put the one that came with kit in)
2) Since I have a NON LOCKUP 2200 torque converter/stall, do I need to have the TC lockup solenoid installed at all?
The spring being left out may have been some sort of a mod for a better shift, I found a half inch brass nut in the bottom of mine and the transgo kit even talks about useing something like that to change the shift, kinda weird.
If you do in fact have a non lockup converter (your gonna hate this) I would send it back and get the right one. I doubt you will HAVE to do this. But I don't know what the thing will do, and I kinda doubt that just leaving out the TCC solenoid would work, but thats a guess.
What book do you have? I just ordered one and hopefully it has some good info in it......
I have the Turbo Hydra-matic 350 book written by Ron Sessions published by HPBooks. It covers all 350 based automatics including 250's and some modifications for drag-racing and off road use.
If you have a NON LOCKUP converter it will not fit the 350C input splines due to a 3/4" nipple on the end of the input shaft.
If this is the case, you will need to change the input shaft to a standard 350 input shaft.
I have seen several 350C transmissions modified in that way to be regular 350s and then the blue plug on the side for the lock-up control is left in the case but not used.
Was this unit running/driving in YOUR CAR????
I don't know the history of your trans...
