Another rear spring issue
a couple yrs a go i put a new steel leaf spring on my 79. it ended up looking like it was jacked up of course and never did settle. i tried the longer bolts which are really only about an inch longer and that didnt help. i bought a used composite spring off a forum member and that helped only slight. i since bought some C4 (10 inch) bolts and that put the drivers side (trouble side) down where it should be but now looking from the back underneath the spring sits a little cockeyed because the end of the spring is a lot lower then the toher side. when i put equal bolts and all on both sides, the drivers side wants to sit up higher. any ideas why one side would want to sit higher when everything is equal ??

Not a spring expert, so I don't know what harm may be happening, but you might also want to check if your frame and diff. mount cross member are both sitting square to the ground (and each other) with something other than the assymetrically adjusted spring supporting the rear.
