Default Speaker Popping Noise

Not that I listen to the radio often, but when I replaced the dash pad I replaced the speakers as a "while I'm at it" kind of thing. In addition to that job I also replaced my steering wheel from the 76 Vega style to the 69 -75 three spoke style. Anyway now when I sound the horn a little pop and some static comes out of the left speaker ?!&^%%& Any clues ?

Thanks

You may need to install a "noise filter" that will suppress electrical noise. Usually available at places like radio shack, they are usually installed on the hot lead to the radio, or at the alternator.

Check the wires and terminals for that speaker. It may be grounding out on something.

OR....you may have the wires reversed on that speaker...check for voltage on the wires with radio on and make sure the hot wire is on the positive terminal on the speaker....

While this is easy and very common...I have never heard it create a popping or static. Making sure a speaker is in phase is important and easy to do. I agree this needs to be checked.
