Speedometer stuck at 25mph

Speedometer stuck at 25mph
Hello, I'm a newbie and have a question about my 79 speedometer, what would cause it to stop at 25mph? The odometer and trip still work, so I believe the cable is allright??? Can someone please tell me how to fix this problem. Thank you.

There is a long, skinny pedal under the dash (commonly called the accelerator pedal). Push it down all the way.

There could be a couple of things. If it works from the start and just doesn't go past 25, the needle may be contacting something that is stopping it from moving any further.

Yep, there are several things it could be but hard to diagnose without looking at it. Could be an over lubed cable forced grease into the mech. that's gumming it up or a clip slipped off and is binding. One pf the jewels may need replacing or the mech is just palin shot....All are fixable though.
