I went with Ecklers A/C conversion kit which included new compressor, drier, orifice, seals, low/hi adapters, and oil (8 oz). This came with no instructions and need to know/verify how much oil to put in compressor and drier. The old compressor had no oil in it and the drier i could only get about thimble of oil out.
The service center where i am going to have them charge is suggesting 2 oz for compressor and 3 oz for drier.
Does it matter which hole in the compressor i pour the oil in?

I'm not sure if the 80 uses a R4 compressor but if so I recently replaced the one on my 84 along w/the accumulator (drier) along w/flushing out the other components. I was advised by an old time AC tech to use 8 ounces of oil, 4 in the compressor and 4 in the accumulator. I did so and so far everything is working fine. But of course as with most things, YMMV.
It's just my opinion and not based upon anything else than common sense but if I was going to err on the amount of oil, I'd rather err on the side of a bit too much vs too little. While you don't want an excessive amount of oil in the system, too little may well cause you to ruin your new compressor. FWIW.
i replaced the compressor on my 79, last week, poured 8oz of oil directly into the compressor.both holes vacuumed system, added 4 cans 134,
cooling great.
