Default solid lifter or hyd how can you tell

which lifter is in this car i am working on??it is a 68-74 350 i have the intake off and would like some help knowing what lifter i have to adjust them..there is a steel clip on the top of the lifter if that helps

Once pushrod slack has been taken up between the lifter and rocker, the solid will immediately begin moving the valve, where as the hydraulic will move the plunger into the lifter before valve lift begins.

Solid lifters also have a clip, but when you take em apart there"s no spring in there.

If it has a cast iron intake or a 5500 red line it more likely has a hydraulic cam with out even opening it up. Besides very few new owners of old Vettes will ever install a solid cam.
