Default Trans fluid temp gauge

Would like to know the trans fluid temp.

How and where do I put the trans temp sensor?
Got a TH350 all stock with an B&M Oilpan with drain plug.

Any recommandations which sender and gauge I should use and where I can get it (summit?)?

Which are the right trans fluid temp?

Makes a aux. trans fluid cooler sence in addition to the stock trans cooler (integrated in the water radiator)?

Thanks
George

Easiest way is to weld a bung in the pan for a temp sensor, or put a T on the cooler line coming from the tranny to the cooler and put the sensor there. You want the temp as cool as you can get it presuming its not sub zero outside, as far under 200 as you can do. I run an extruded aluminum cooler by itself under the car and do not use the cooler in the radiator at all

I put mine in the cooler line with a trans cooler in front of the radiator. 90 degrees outside and it never goes above 165 no matter how had I try.

Mine is mounted in the center of the drain plug.

I use an Autometer trans temp gauge. I bought a drain plug kit, which required drilling a hole in the pan, but no welding. The the sensor for the temp gauge screwed in place. The drain plug kit was less than 10 bucks and I bought it at Summit, along with the gauge. This way, there was no welding, just one hole to drill, and I still get the benefits of my magnetic drain plug. I drilled the hole and mounted it on the front side of the pan and not the bottom, to lesson the chances of ripping the wires loose.

thanks for your answers, I just have to look, where I put the gauge in place, not destroying the orginal look.

I'm thinking instead of the cigaret lighter, covered by ashtray flap

You can use an early 80s C3 oil temp. gauge in place of the clock.
I have one in my 77.
