On my '71 350, I've had bogging at WOT... which I traced to my secondary rods having become disconnected from the hanger. The hanger is still securely attached to its metal plate via the small machine screw; however, this metal plate is completely loose from the nylon/plastic cam. How does this metal plate attach to the cam? Does it simply "snap" on, or is more disassembly required? How might it have become disonnected in the first place? Any help for this novice qjet guy would be much welcomed!
The secondary rod hanger and its mount simply ride on the cam, they are not physically connected to it. The cam is connected to the air valve shaft and nothing else.
Thanks BigBlockk! But wow, if nothing holds the cam mount in place (other than gravity), what prevents vibrations from moving the rods up and down (and in my case, one rod fell off the hanger!). I bent the hanger to try to prevent the rod from falling off again, but I'm still concerned about the "precision" with which the cam/hanger mount assebmly moves. When I activate the secondary air valves by hand, the whole hanger mount moves up (as opposed to the hanger end rotating up while the other end stays down, as I would think it should work). It just doesn't seem like a design that will work very consistently or precisely!

The steel mount that the rod hanger is screwed into is a "C" shaped bracket that is partially captured under the nylon cam. It rides on the top of the cam with a bit of slop, so you can pull the hanger up a little bit. Gravity holds it down. But you should not be able to pull it up very far before the mount catches on the bottom of the cam. If you can pull it all the way up, you have a broken cam or a defective steel mount.
Thanks much Lars - I can readily pull the steel mount completely up and off the carb with the hanger still attached holding the rods - so the steel mount is obviously not correctly connected to the cam anymore. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing this?

Something is either broken or missing. You need to identify the broken/missing part and replace it. Since these parts are not avaiable new, you need to find a donor carb and scrounge the parts off of it.
