Default MSD wiring question

So I'm almost done installing my 383 into my 72. Just need to install the radiator, run a fuel line and hook up the wires from my MSD 6AL. Now as I was looking at the instructions it says there are wires that run to the positive and negative battery terminals. Is there a way around this without having to run a wire all the way to the battery behind the seat? How did you guys do it?

The pos from the batt goes to the starter.. Alot closer there. You can ground anywhere..

i used alternator really convenient, no chance of melting wires on headers.
