I have stainleess back boxes on my 76 which are replica manufacturers.
Straight through stainless from manifolds.
The boxes weigh a heckuva lot. Is there any back boxes I can fit which are smaller and lighter and still give the same growl from the V8.
I,m from across the pond
Should have said' mufflers' We call them back boxes here in U'K.
I will be guided by you guys as to which ones to fit as you are the experts when it comes to the stingrays. Do lighter (less baffles) and size of the mufflers affect the sound and everyday running. Very limited info. on the subject here. I have no centre mufflers on the car
The less baffling the louder they will be. There are some very light mufflers that are quiet though. Stainless mufflers are just heavy IMO. Like I said before, what brand to you have?
I have had the car for 26 years and had the exhaust replaced with stainless 15 years ago. I took the car down to the fabrication Company. They took the original mufflers off and made copies of them in stainless steel. I have been sorting underneath out, like undersealing and painting and took these mufflers off for access. I could'nt believe the weight of them. I was hoping there might be something out there that would do the job just as well as my mufflers but with less weight
You got custom fabbed SS Mufflers?? Damn
OK, in that case there are several vendors that sell Polished SS mufflers that will go right on, and I bet they weigh in a lot less than yours.
