Default weird stalling

my car is starting to stall out when it is left to idle for about 2 minutes. The voltage gauge is reading about +20 and when ever i press on the gas just slightly the engine cuts out. Im not sure if its an electrical problem or a fuel problem. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel problem to me also. Are you getting black smoke out of the exhaust?

I'd say both. 20+ volts will at the least cook your battery. As far as stalling, check to make sure your accelerator pump is working correctly.

I suspect he means 20 amps. If the alt were putting out 20 volts, he'd have a lot more problems.

Having no idea what carb you are running, the accel pump is usually cam and lever driven. You should be able to look down the barrel of the carb, pull the accel lever, and watch for a fine shot of fuel injecting straight into the barrel. I'd bet it is a fuel issue either way.

i don't think its the accel pump because the car will stall out if just left alone for a minute or two.

Default Check out the post from Lars on the street avenger.

Lars just put in a great post regarding issues with the street avenger carb. Take a read of his post b4 going any further.

not sure why weimer20 thinks it could be the acc pump if it's stalling at an idle, sounds like a guess to me. anyway, he is right about lars knowing his shet.

Probably because the original poster wrote this:

Sure its a guess, just like a doctor would guess based on symptoms without being able to diagnose. And yes, it was based on a previous post stating that it would stall when the accel was pushed. Anyway, I posted the link to the thread that Lars posted on this. He seems like the best authority on this issue. Best regards and good luck.
