Headlight Switch Help Please !

Just received a new headlight switch for my 80 Vette. Before I burn it up (or cause other unwanted damage) can someone please tell me what the 8 connectors are used for ??? Also on the opposite side, which vacuum hose is for the input, and which goes over to the vacuum release under the steering column. Below is a crude graphic of what my switch looks like.

?????? the plug only goes one way. Why is this important. The vac switch is just a switch. I dont think it makes any difference.

Port #2 must go to engine vacuum
Port #3 must go to pulldown bypass under the dash

As far as plug is concerned, I had wanted to check the individual wires before I zaped the switch - just in case !

Ok these numbers and colors are for your drawing only.(Your numbers and locations do not match GMs numbers and locations)
#1-white
#2-red
#3-dk green
#4-blank
#5-yellow
#6-brown
#7-orange
#8-black
