'81 won't idle when cold
Well, I changed my air cleaner assembly for 1 of those nice looking chrome units. Looks great, BUT, now the car will not idle until it gets sufficiently warmed up. I know I caused the problem and hope there is a solution (other than going back to the old air cleaner). I'm reasonably sure it has something to do with 1 of the vacuum lines that came off the old unit. I'm taking a guess that the round sensor unit on the snorkel of the air cleaner is a temp sensor of some sort that controls the choke? Anyone have any suggestions on how to get to idle/choke properly without the old assembly?
On a side note, I recently put on the Mid America exhaust kit so I now have true duals and what a difference in power!!

Check the electric choke and make sure the choke parts are free and working. The sensor in the old snorkel is for the hot air valve that makes the thing suck hot air off the manifold until the carb is warm, got nothing to do with idle or choke, just helps the carb warm up fast.

Thanks 6-footer for your reply. I finally had time to mess with this the other day and it was in fact the new air cleaner was apparently causing interference somwhere. With no air cleaner on it would start up with choke on and high idle no problem. So I replaced the 1/2" air cleaner adapter I was using with a 1" and no problems now.
