Default Vpb c5 brakes

[IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]Tried to install the brakes today without instructions,
Looks like my wheels won't work T2s, calipers hit spokes ,if I use 1/4 spacer need longer studs, and caliper hits swaybar.[IMG][/IMG]
I'll try calling Vpb Monday and see if I got it right.

Do you have at least 17" rims?

Thanks for stepping up to do this mod...I am seriously considering this as well. By chance....you don't think the caliper is suppose to be mounted in the 10/11 o'clock position vs. your 1/2 o'clock position? this would eliminate the sway bar problem I guess. Please do post your results

something is not right with this install. In the second pic there is a gap between the spindle and the part that attaches the spindle to the tie rod. This should not be this way and is not safe. I bet if you check the caliper is holding the rotor away from the spindle also. Don't torqe your lug nuts without checking this or something may break.

In that pic you can see a spacer I placed above it that seems to thick,
without instructions I just don't know if I even have the brakes setup right.

Man....No instructions! I looked on their web site. They do have a instruction library but this is too new I guess. What a bummer.

The nuts are off of the bolts, allowing that piece to slide back.

They look great but I got a stupid question...why are the positioning of the calipers different? The red car has the caliper at the 10 o'clock position while the black car has it at the 2 o'clock position????

I had them on the front at first, called Vbp and they said they go towards the back, but seems to work either way if they clear other componets.

Nice mod. Now that one will set me back good. A new set of wheels and then the C5 brakes. I like it though.

vetteaddic, what assist do you have (manual, vacuum, hydro)?

What do you mean by they feel better? Less pedal effort? Firmer feel? Less fade?

How many hard stops would it take with the old to feel the fade?

And welcome to the club.

Very nice looking upgrade!! They fill in the rim very nicely, looks like they were meant to be. Good choice on your all your components.

I have manual brakes,so the pedal effort is about the same, firmer maybe a little, but the big difference is that there is no fade yet.

"How many hard stops with the old to feel the fade", not much , a blast down the hiway is all it took.
I think it is an improvement How much I do not know yet, need hydro.
