I have a 427/400 hp 69 with orginal linkage. I am having the secondary carbs getting gas at idle. Is there some secret way to keep the secondary trottle closed at idle. Car idles fine with both secondaries unhocked from primary..
The key is to get the end carbs closed at idle and not let them upset the mixture. I could not get mine to idle correctly until I worked on getting the end carbs closed. It's all in the linkage.

Ralph.
Also, sometimes the end carb throttle plates leak a little air at the bore. There is a GM product (goop) to reduce this. Mine (sb) has lapped in brass plates and seals perfect.
If you do have original linkage, they automaticly close the rear carbs when at idle. Its just a matter of removing the linkage clip and adjusting it correctly. Remove both end carb linkages. Adjust your center carb idle. Then adjust the linkages to drop into the hole on the end carbs.
Thanks for the info.. What is the AIM manual? I am new to the site. Thanks
AIM = Assembly Instruction Manual. This is a must - have if you plan on doing any work on your car. While you're at it, pick up the Chassis Service Manual for your car. Both of these books will help you understand how to fix and replace everything on your car.
