Does anybody have the stock specs for a 1972 LS5? I am picking one up this weekend courtesy of 67HEAVEN and I am looking to explore my alternatives re: rebuilding it.
I'm talking about heads, cam, intake, carb, 2 or 4 bolt.
Re: LS5 Specs - 1972 version ...anybody (SuperFast80)

Re: LS5 Specs - 1972 version ...anybody (SuperFast80)
SuperFast80,
As you know, this engine was bought by me in 1972 in a 1972 Chevrolet Kingswood wagon. 454, 4bbl, 270hp NET, TH-400 transmission. You should've seen this car. I spent three hours watching it being built in Oshawa in the 'B' body assembly plant. The 'boys' made sure that it got the full treatment....complete Police package, extra sound deadener, etc.
It was Pewter Silver with air, power steering, brakes, windows, etc. A beauty.
The engine has a CRW code on one of the valve covers. That translates in LS5, 270hp. The wagons got the 270hp version.
Re: LS5 Specs - 1972 version ...anybody (67HEAVEN)
67HEAVEN, this has all been too generous! Thanks for the leads, i will be doing a detailed tear down and build up over the next 6 months or so and I will keep you up to date. That station wagon sounded like a great car. I am happy to carry its heart.
gdh and QikStik, alas it is 'only' the engine I acquired. It will be held lovingly buy a 1980 Corvette.:D:D
I will post some pics of the 454 sitting beside the original 350 in the garage. The difference is quite overwhelming.
