MY SEAT FRAMES BENT TOO but thats another day...
The support housing breaks or the bolts get loose in the column. If you get in there soon, you might be able to tighten the bolts and save it. If not you will be in for a new housing and a rebuild.

Timgman, I'm if you discovered what was making your steering column loose. Mine is woobling now also, near the tilt area. I'm about to start taking it apart and was interested in what you found with yours (what did you need to tighten or replace)?
