I WILL LET ALL know if there good for there word next week when i bring it back :cry
ive had my car painted there twice and both times they suck..

im poor and cant afford a real paintjob :cry :cry :cry :cry
make sure when u take it back in that they watch out for the paint thickness now!!! they might try to do a quick halfarse sand and repaint to get you out the door!!

Similar thing happened when I took my Karmann Ghia to Scheib. Except it was door jambs. They know you want the car bad and got you by the tes-tickles. What I did was have them cut the price back for not doing the doors ($40) and told them to give me some paint for me to finish it. Maybe what you should have done was leave the headlight bezels there and give them a partial payment. Then pay them the rest when the bezels & the runs were fixed. AHHH, hind sight,.... But you others out there, be ready for this kind of cwap to happen!!
hey razz im really sorry to hear this ..but dont worry theyll make good on it..one reason why i took headlights out before hand..runs are no big deal they can be sanded out..and if they reshoot it itll comes out much better.
Thank you for the courtesy of at comng back to us! That is much appreciated. My only comment is that you were fore-warned about MAACO. They are volume, insurance repair-oriented. Do not put a Corvette in their sights!!
Always, Always remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. To expect a $500 paint job to look any better than it did was wishful thinking. If that were the case no one would be paying 5 thousand for a good paint job, everyone would be going to Macco. Hopefully they will make it look better but I wouldn't expect much.
I think what razz is most upset about is they didn't listen to his directions about putting the lights down. Any joe at a car orientated shop can turn a car on and close the lights(if shown where the **** is, and how to opporate it). I could understand the whole "we told you so" if razz didn't tell the body man to do this, but he did tell them...he(in my opinion) has a right to be upset about that.
Razz: take the car back for them to fix the headlights(this time put them down). To make sure they don't build up to much paint, see if you can re-prep that area yourself. Also, let them sand the runs and other inperfections. Or do it yourself. I think you'll be happier with the results if you do it yourself. Granted it will be a ton of work, and you did technically pay them to do this, I still think you'd be happier doing it yourself. Plus if you take your time, you could walk away with a close-to-show quality macco job I think. well maybe not close-to-show, but it would be a lot better then macco would have done on sanding. It may be more work then you where planning on, but it'll pay off. Also, try not to get upset, it'll just stress you...everything can be fixed, you just have to be firm and logical.
The last thing you want to do is assault anyone

I had porshe red done at Macco for $300.00. There was a little orange peel and a few runs on the door edges. No one else would touch the car for less than $1500. All in all I was pretty happy with what they could do for such little money.
Another recommendation for anyone taking their car to Macco. Take off the nice rims and put some junk rims you don't mind overspray on. Same for the mufflers. :)
Here's what happened when I painted my bumper. I painted this with acrylic enamel and sanded and prepped myself. That epoxy like substance on the top of the bumper is the flexible filler i got from Midstate automotive supply
That looks good xfactor, how'd you get it to match the rest of the paint so well? Good job getting out the waves. I couldn't do that to my 79 since it's faded after 20 years, I'd have to paint the entire vette.
I think it all boils down to expectations. Also, as others have pointed out, and I probably should have mentioned in my E-mail to you, prep work is a must. I removed everything I could from the car, knowing full well what would happen if I didn't. Also, I didn't change colors. I stayed with the stock color. I didn't trust them to do a color change appropriately. These guys aren't professionals. That's why you don't pay the professional price. I said it before, when I picked up my car from Scheib, I wanted to puke. This is normal. There were runs and dust nibs everywhere. My three year old could have sprayed it better. But then I went to work. I spent over 25 hours sanding and polishing the car, in the middle of winter. I really like the end result. No, it's not perfect. But most of the cars I see at shows aren't perfect either. The Vettes didn't leave the factory with perfect paint, far from it. And there was no way I was going to spend $4500 on a car I just bought for $4900. It just doesn't make sense to me. My Vette's a 77. It's a driver.
My personal advice, is this: treat those guys as though they were handling your food or a loved one. Seriously. It feels good to push your weight around and be a *****, rightfully so, but they'll screw you. I've seen it happen. You'll leave with decent enough paint, but before you know it, as in a year later, the paint will start chipping, or who knows what else. Maybe a little sand in the crankcase? Maybe they **** in the gas tank. You'll never know, but they'll get a great laugh from it. I never send food back, and I never mess with the guys who are working on my car. It's that simple. I treat them better than family.
If you have any questions about how to deal with the paint imperfections, E-mail me, I'll walk you through it.
