Default Master Cylinder Issue

Because I've built some power into my BB '79 'Vette I how need to cure some brake fading (loss of vacuum). I'm wanting to change from the power brake system to a standard brake system.

I've been drag racing the car several years, but the new engine has some whomp but during the burn-out the I have trouble holding the car with the line-lock. Also the car tends to creap at the line when I'm staging.

As a temporary cure I've been giving it a few big revs before I set the line-lock and its been holding. I do already have a vacuum canister. But I'm seriously considering changing over from power to standard brakes.

I need to know if this master cylinder would be the one I could use on my '79 and would the master cylinder come with the correct rod or do I use the rod I have?

Thanks so much if you can advise me along here.

If your problrm is that your vacuum power brakes are not able to supply enough clamping force to the pads, I suggest that you look into replacing the vacuum system with a hydroboost system. This forum contains many discussions and instructions on hydroboost, and it will absolutely apply more pressure against the pads than any other system, vacuum or manual.

Default Find the actual underlying problem

Hydraboost on disc brakes is one solution. Manual brakes with a tiny master cylinder piston will increase pedal travel but boost pressure, assuming there is not something else wrong.

Might the car simply be overpowering the small footprint front tires and they are skidding, not actually rotating?

Since 80-90% of the braking power is in the front, if you can't hold the car during staging, it sounds like there is something else at play here.
