Water Pump Question
I am replacing the original water pump ('72 Stingray - 350cu, automatic) and replacing the timing gear cover (it's leaking at the crank seal) and the original harmonic balancer. My question is in regards to the various water pumps available. I do not race, but do put my car through its paces - mountain driving, high temperature drives -Florida and Georgia, etc. I see the ads for "high volume" water pumps for the small block. My radiator is original, but is in great shape. Would a high volume water pump place unnecessary strain on the radiator, etc? Does a higher volume of water flow equate to a higher water pressure? Also, my top hose is new, but the bottom hose will probably need replacing - along with the inner hose spring. I plan to use the stock pump, but was just wondering if an upgrade would be worth the risk of possible problems.
