With the install of hydroboost and jeep box I want the driver side for the aftermarket power steering pump and resoviour and have no AC so I want to put the alternator in the lower passenger side of the engine.
Anyone done this? I'd prefer the lower mount position over the upper to make the engine compartment look more spacious.
I have the VBP perf plus suspension so the front A-arms are the square tubing and front mono spring so I think I should have enough clearance to run the alternator in the lower position.
What wires will I have to extend to that side? aside from the obvious alternator hookup wire to the horn relay.
Any thoughts? any links to a mounting kit from summit/jegs ect??
Yep, more or less like that. What wiring did you have to lengthen and reroute to the pass side? did you take it off the firewall or just lenthen and route along the front crossmember?
I'm digging it as I am also running hydroboost and jeep box and want the driver side clear for the power steering pump.
Another question for a pic you posted in the stereo thread.
Is that baffler for your "left speaker" inserted to suppress the noise? do you have any experience with these cone bafflers? Do you notice a big difference in loudness? tone? Does it just sit inside the header collector, no fastening down? I was considering these if my hookers are too loud but wasn't sure how they would stay in the collector if the 4" side tube just slides onto it.
i installed a set of the "cone baffles" in front of spiral baffles. spiral baffles are bolted, "cone baffles" are wedged in front of spiral baffles; all in the side pipes. no problems. lowered the noise level noticably. can't tell how much hp was lost, whatever it was, i have plenty left . . .

I am also running the STS spiral baffles. Where they tooo loud alone? I might end up dong what you did to lower the noise level. I love the exhaust sound but my local police dept doesnt.
Are you running the STS spiral baffles? how did you bolt them in? did you have to drill a hole in the side of your side tube?

Are you running the STS spiral baffles? Yes
how did you bolt them in? did you have to drill a hole in the side of your side tube? Yes, just as shown in the included instructions.
The newer baffles may be made to bolt in a little easier, but i had no problem. i located the holes in the center of the lower inside quadrant and used SS fasteners. I also painted the baffles with rattle can ceramic paint, for what it's worth - we'll find out one day.

Thanks
I just lengthened the wires and ran them along the front of the motor.
I Just used a die grinder and ground off the ceramic coating and tack welded in tthree spots with the mig and some stainless wire...
Cones worked OK but were not enough to take the bark out...
Any thing I stuck inside the tube was noticeable on the SOTP Dyno Soooo
Thanks guys for the pics and ideas.
The hooker headers/sidepipes and STS baffles were the first thing I bought for the car but will be the last thing that goes on. Man it sucks just watching them sit there...and NO I wouldn't feel better if they passed the time on someone elses car. so don't ask
One of these days I'll get to put them into action and see what method gives me the right exhaust tone.
