fusible links
Also would having a new higher output alternator require a larger amp fusible link or fuse?
The tag on my new alternator rates it at 87-116amps.
Thanks
then shrink wrapped....there is no need to change a thing with the fuse links due to higher alt amps outputs....just take your power requirement off the alternator directly, or the horn relay/distribution point on the fender....but if you go there you need at least an #8 wire to the alternator from there....things like fans go to the alt directly, chassis ground is fine for fans on the - feed....amps should go the same route, off the alt, NOT the battery....charging reasons...
generally, you don't want to replace a fusible link with a modern fuse. you will create more potential for problems. if needed, replace the fusible link with a new fusible link. i understand that the real issue is with the wire connected to the link. but these are the wires that typically carry higher amps and new links are readily available.
