For those of you who have to park your Vettes for the winter, what are your planned winter projects?
Mine is to drop a LT5 engine in my Vette. Good time to do it since I won't be driving the Vette and I can take my time. So anyone else here planning a winter project?
Yeah, Lars is gettin' my stock Q-Jet to rebuild, I have his Distrib Kit to install, rear shocks & whatever else I can think of...... :seeya :flag
I'm having the whole front end rebuilt including new shocks, springs and sway bars. The work I'm going to do myself is a new interior.....carpet, doors, seats, etc. I'm also going to have the wheels sent out to be polished.
I have already started this winter's project. i just finished installing a Tremec TKO. Just totally remachined and rebuilt the steering box and a dropped pitman arm and drag link. I will replace all calipers with lifetime ss gold anodize ones. I am removeing the rearend and trailing arms to just check for wear or freeplay. They have been rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago but just checking. It is a long winter and my car had to go away very early because someone offered me too much money for my transmission and I couldn't turn it down. I am considering removeing the 4.11 gear and going to 3.55 , changing my drag springs to a heavier set and maybe installing 17 or 18 inch mags. I will have to talk to George more about this. Machined a set of 17 inchers for the vet last winter but after weighting them put them on the mustang and kept my drag lites. I will also mini tub the mustang and run 315 x 17 under the fenders. I know it is not a vet but it is something to do. Forgot I already changed by power brakes from a 1/2 ton power assist to a 1 ton dually. Those things should be really powerful.
Have a nice day

I've still got a few more weekends before putting the toy up. Plenty of time to break something major!
Barring breakage, I've got a complete poly kit for the front suspension standing by. :smash:
Ah, I am thinking about stripping and painting mine. It needs a paintjob pretty badly and I think I finally have the $ for it! Let's hope and pray it happens.
I'm pulling the motor and tranny, replacing the clutch, radiator support, and other items, and detailing the engine compartment. Oh yeah, rebuilding the front suspension too "while I'm in there"......
On the 70, finish replacing windshield frame, modify replacement doors for convertible use, and find deal on TPI for the big block!
On 78, drive and enjoy with T-tops off!
Let's see now - install new JetHot coated Hooker sidepipes, convert existing 69 BU lights to 68 style tail lights and install different(?) BU lights into existing exhaust bezels, add airbox and air cleaner parts to make L88 hood functional, replace carpet, repair and dye leather seats, dye interior pieces, rebuild the PS system, repaint ralleys, replace bent SS trim under T-tops, R&R windsheild, and maybe purchase and install a new cam if I can afford it. :D
This winter I plan on building up a 454 (specifics listed in my signature) and hopefully it will be pushing the numbers that I want it to (500+ Horsepower / 500+ Lb Ft Torque). My goal is to have it built, rip the smogged 350 out and have the big block up and running at the beginning of spring time (early summer at the latest).
