Sounds more like pilot bearing/bushing. If it did it with the clutch depressed all the time it would be T.O., but as soon as you put it in gear, the trans input shaft stops moving and the pilot bearing will make the kind of noises you are describing. If it is a bushing, it won't hurt the input shaft, but a bad needle bearing (hard parts) can tear up the shaft if you let it go. Hope this helps!
