Strange noise...from clutch?
I have just recently developed a noise (Lars you heard it, and we both thought PS pump. But it's not).
The clutch "groans/chatters" sometimes when in gear (any) and fully pressed (disengaged). I'm fearing that my throwout bearing is going...
Suggestions on what it could be?

My throw-out bearing went a few weeks ago. It only made noise when the clutch was in.
It was a loud screeching noise that even freaked out the cars around me.
Didn't happen every time and it never happened while driving (clutch not in...)

How long did it take to replace it, and how did you do it?
I figure that I should do the whole thing...clutch disc, throwout bearing, pressure plate and make sure the flywheel is good.

Sounds more like pilot bearing/bushing. If it did it with the clutch depressed all the time it would be T.O., but as soon as you put it in gear, the trans input shaft stops moving and the pilot bearing will make the kind of noises you are describing. If it is a bushing, it won't hurt the input shaft, but a bad needle bearing (hard parts) can tear up the shaft if you let it go. Hope this helps!
