I have looked at a c3 convertible where the frame is near excellent, the pillars look very clean with no sign of rust. My main concern is; at both corners of the windshield, there has been what appears to be patch work about 1 1/2" wide by 3" long. It is very solid but I am unable to detect if there is any damage beneath those patched areas???
should I be concerned with it? Is there any way to further inspect that area if I don't own the car?
Thanks!!
top or bottom of w/s? unfortunatley the w/s would have to be pulled to fully check for damage, but clean pillars are a good sign. remove the kick panels and look closer
Also look up under the dash with a trouble light to see if you can detect any rust on the pillars, lower windshield frame, pull the rear access covers and check the body mounts,
Also check rocker channels for rust...if owner complains walk away!
Thanks, for the input.
Does anyone have a pic available of the area which is beneath the top of the hood and in the vicinity where the wipers are attached. I am referring to the area visible with the hood open (the water reservoir area near the side screens) If anyone has or could take some pics of a 73 vette that would be extremely helpful!! there are no 73's that I know of inthe area to compare with.
thanks again!!
remember that the cowl area (as pictured) is fiberglass. the birdcage rusts under the fiberglass cowl braces, that are rivetted and bonded to the metal windshield frame, at either end of the trough where the wiper transmission is placed.
