every time i sit down in my car the foam dust seems to work its way through. Ecklers has several sevices where they strip the seat frames down, paint them, redo the springs, re-foam and recover them. The prices are not cheap, however worth it i guess in order to keep the foam dust out of my life. Anybody sent theirs in to have this service done by Ecklers or anybody else?
Bought new seat cushions and covers pre-assembled from Al Knoch. Excellent job. I did the shells myself. I would do it that way again. I think I paid $580
I bought new Vinyl/Leather seat cover that were pre-installed on new seat foam. All I had to do was yank the old cushions out, and put the new ones in.
To be honest, I've only done one seat so far! Ripping the old cushions out wasn't hard, but installing the new ones was a major pain in the butt!
There are metal bars that run through the back/underside of the seat foam that is meant to clip into the clamps on the seat frame. On the seats I got, these metal bars were so far recessed into the foam, that it made it next to impossible to attach them to the clamps on the frame. It took me about 4 hours all together to get them in.
I'm happy I did it now, but at the time, I was cursing up a storm!
And the cost, $550 for two seats. Saved about $200 or so by buying them at Corvettes at Carlise carshow, instead of through ZIP or MidAmerica.
