Stingray Hood Scoop
Has anyone installed this hood scoop on a stock chrome bumper 350 hood?
It is from Speedway Motors. Here is the link

I figure it would give it a cool stinger look.
I have some small cracks in the hood and need to paint it anyways.
I might even cut a hole for a bigger manifold.

I think it looks better than buying a "stinger" hood it gives you a much wider "V"

Did you cut a hole for the air cleaner, and if so how much bigger did you cut it?
Thanks

That is really a nice looking hood. Adding that scoop to a SB hood, some glasswork and paint provide a "killer" look. That's almost as nice looking as the 67 stinger hood.

One of those scoops was installed on my '70 when I bought it. I removed it when I had the car painted. :lol :

Why did you take it off?
I guess yours was just cosmetic.
I need hight for my new engine and will cut a hole in the hood, so I like this option.

Yes, mine was just cosmetic and I thought it cut up the clean lines of my small block hood.
If you need the height for engine clearance it might be the best way to go.

I don't think it messed up the lines of the hood...I think it wreaks of testosterone!

HEY!
Your comparison pics aren't fair.....
You're showing a '69 with an incorrect hood from a later year.

I cut out everything under the scoop and smoothed it into the hood so it all looks like one peice

While I'm not one for customizing Vettes, your hood looks great!

I just placed the scoop on my hood and I do not have the inch or so on each side of the stinger point as you do (gap between the outside edge of the stock point and the inside of the new scoop).
Did you modify the scoop or bend it out when you installed it?
Also, it looks like you cut off the back hang over to be flush with the hood line, am I correct in this assumption?
Do you know if your scoop was the same company?

Thanks

it sounds like you may want to get a wider scoop and i left the hang over in the rear.

my 68 had one of those....
when I bought it. I replaced the hood with and L-88 hood. The old hood was cracking at the corners.....I still have the old hood; I oughta toss it.
