Default Electric or mechanical fuel pump.

Plumbing up the 408" and as with everything else T&L forgot my mech pump. Would it be better to go with a electric? I have the hard lines in place (supply and return/vapor) and I am running a NOS hundred shot with an AED 750.
TIA
Dave

No, we're all sitting around wondering who will actually answer this tired worn out question - yet again.

Clive, I guess I don't know the answer to the same old tired question either and I am sure this is wrong but I have gone from mechanical to electric and am now going back to mechanical. I felt that the electric pump would offer a much more even and regulated pressure and would therefore work better with the NOS. What I didn't consider was having to listen to that thing every time I go cruising. Check out www.racepumps.com. They have a mechanical with the benifits of electric and you don't have to listen to it howl at every stop light. It is a little pricey but I have a pretty good idea of what you have spent already and put in perspective it is a small price to pay for happiness.

I'm a little disappointed in this answer.

I've seen the same type of responses on other genre boards as well. So I'll reply to this one as I have to the other "asked and answered" replies I've seen.

Whenever the 1st or 3rd or 53rd time was that you answered this question was, the most recent asker probably didn't see it. And it's probably important to him/her NOW, not whenever you answered it in the past.

Unless you can point an asker of any question to a location where it had been asked and answered in the past (an answer board), then all you've done is turned someone off to the spirit of message boards. And this IS a technical board, is it not?

Thats my rant. feel free to never answer any question I may have in lieu of this ignorant response you spit out below.

Every question to be asked has most likely already been asked in the past. Given your asked and answered mentality, there is no need for this board. All questions have been asked and all have been answered. Why bother coming here.........

personally myself, I prefer an electric as I can wire a kill switch to it. Which, God forbid mine get hot wired for a joy ride, the joy will be short lived.

Hey, I am good with that.

My Holley electric setup works great, it is just noisy and I have tried additional rubber mounts, etc. to stop the noise but when the internal bypass opens it just raises hell.

Also. you are right on track about the first response.

Unless you're running fuel injection, it's probably not worth the effort to install an electric pump.

My jab was aimed more at the 'I guess I stumped you' snotty follow up from the OP. The subtlety of this point did not make it to my post, sorry.

For the OP, if your question doesn't get answered within XX hours, do a little research to find out why instead of getting impatient with the fellow members. We all come here as volunteers to offer our time for free.

In this case there was already three open discussions on this board asking the same basic question- yours was the fourth.

Thanks for the info from the others.

I would suggest that an in-tank fuel pump is the best solution, putting the pump in the tank eliminates the noise issue and also helps wiht fuel starvation when doing hard cornering and accellerations.

This is the solution I am going to be using on my car.

Don't forget the kill switch for safety and also as a theft deterrant.

Aeromotive makes some nice pumps

Well I hope this new guy helps these guys get straightened out. I really like them but with everything that has happened lately I would be reluctant to deal with them now. No, we don't have the same cam. Yours has quite a bit more lift and I was looking to see what that was. I asked that the keep mine on the mild side for idle and vac booster and they left the duration the same as thier typical build but decreased the lift. Now I want the extra 40 hp your cam makes.
