hello all! i bought this project car(76 coupe) and i am ready to put the top dash pad on but have found that it is too long.there is not enough space on either end for the pillar post covers, which i bought new as there were not any with the car.i don't know if this pad goes with this car or not!i had to force it past the windshield when i put it in place. could someone measure the length of their pad from end to end on a 76 and post it? i've had to buy a lot of new parts that were missing or some were wrong,so i could have the wrong pad.thanks-----john

JJ.I am assuming that you are tryung to put the dash in with the pillar post trim out.I just measured my 76 and it is 4ft.at the widest point.I HAVE HAD MINE OUT ABOUT 4 TIMES. yOU HAVE TO BEND A LITTLE UP IN CENTER TO GET IT TO FIT FOR IT IS A LITTLE TIGHT.

Careful to bend it with respect better to avoid bending and try gently prying the sides. I cracked mine when bending it in the middle and they are really expensive. Mind you mine was 36 years old and really dried out. Good luck
I Posted A Similar Thread The Other Day. How Do You Get The Clips Back Under The Windshield Frame?
About 2 years ago I picked up another old dash pad, still in decent condition after being reshot the Dark Saddle color, it was originally that color so looking better now.....like the original which had more cracks than Jack Benny, it's really tight in there the clips seem to slip in place just fine on MY car....force the pad down lo, and the snug in there just fine....and even if they don't....it's not going anywhere....
my largest problems center around getting that stupid center gauge cluster to line up correctly, it allways looks LO on the driver's side, the top chrome has been a bug-a-boo for 12 years now....
basically I hate the interior for the silliness with which it's put together....overall appearance is fine, mechanically it's a disaster to the point of sublime allready....

I realize the C3 is a very tight package all around but there are a many things that could have been engendered a little better.... the fixed cross member on the 4 speeds is another major blunder on GM's part.
Since your dash pad is new at least you lessen the chance of cracking it while bending it upon installation.
