Default Cracked Intake Manifold

I have about a 3 in crack extended across runners on #6 and #8 just above the bolt head. It goes all the way through because with the engine running I sprayed some WD40 on it and it gets sucked in. Can I fix this with JB Weld or epoxy or something?

Is your intake cast iron or aluminum?

I would probably just replace the intake but if you are concerned with originality then you can take it to a welder and see if they will give it a try. Aluminum is relatively easy to fix but cast iron is a real pain.

These guys look like a good shop, haven't tried them myself but was posted in another forum.

Its Aluminum LS6 intake on a 454. Normally I would just set it aside and buy an aftermarket edelbrock or something, but then the hood clearance issue.

You can TIG weld aluminum. Any good welder could fix this.

if it's an aluminum intake send it to the above mentioned link:

They are the best when it comes to aluminum parts repairs. They will fix your intake and you will not have a clue afterwards where it had been damaged.
it will also come back looking like brand new from the factory.

They also do a lot of repairs on intakes, exhaust manifolds, etc for the NCRS crowd so you know they are good.
