Have a 76 Vette with 350 engine upon first starting runs COLD..have to let idle a couple of minutes before placing in gear..(other wise it will die).Runs OK after that...I have not had it too long ..Engine has AC and AIR pump removed..alot of PLUGS in Vacuum lines around carb...Some not plugged at all..It has a chrome air breather ontop of carb...NO manifold to carb heater hose..Is there an obvious vacuum/carb heater connection that I could connect to eliminate problem? Or (and I have not had a Carb only engine for awhile) this may be normal for it to be "COLD NATURED "....Thanks,Pete

I would say that your best bet right now would be to post some detailed pictures of the areas in question.
It's difficult to diagnose without seeing it.
I replaced plugs and wires...It runs a little worse now..It will warm up and idle but when you rev it white smoke comes out exhausts...When I crank it and it fires up black soot shoots out tailpipes...CARB problem???..Will the "LEAN/RICH adjustment help?..Do I need to check timing?..Also,when I rev it the distributor "will knock once" you can place your hand on top of it and feel it "knock"..Sorry so many questions.. .I said in a previous post that I have not had this car long and I would post pics of vacuum connections..(no smog at all on engine..no cat convertor). You have to pay to post pics???...Thanks,Pete
