Rear wheel angle problem?

as you can see from the photo's, the wheel is angled outward, the other rear wheel didnt do that.
also you can see the shaft going into the diff, coming out by a inch, is that ok?, is that shaft a sign of damage to diff?
so what needs replacing there to solve the problem?
cheers

Can't see the strut rod, is it bent?
so if side yoke is worn, what do I need to replace?

...................You apparently don't know the whole story. Gary is a valued member here and has helped many of our members here with free advice and how to articles. I understand his position completely. Enough said.

However, it does sound a little like sour grapes, when he tries to steer someone to another Vette Forum!!!
Very True!
Here is Gary's diff thread. He is a great guy.

I agree some people should calm down untill they know what they are talking about
2- I have a LOT of pictorials on custom rebuilding that I have posted here for years. I chose to stop posting pictures here for personal reasons. I am not, nor do I intend to be a vendor. The money I saved dozens of members here should have been sufficient but I guess not.
3- I have not abandoned guys who need help and have continued to post my opinion on repairs. Some of my procedures may not be "appreciated" by some in the business but they do offer the owner some options or at the least the knowledge of how something works. To date I have not seen any in-depth procedures like the ones I wrote offered here.
4 - I have not posted any direct links to any other forum but anyone with a PC can certainly find other forums. This is still a free country I believe.
5- Lastly, no need for you to apologize to me. I don't believe I know you and you are intitled to your own opinion. Sounds like I wouldn't be able to help you anyway. You are free to find my work as is everyone else, like it or dislike it is again your choice.
I will continue to offer help to those that request it and will provide pictorial links to help them but I will not post anymore pictures here. Like it or not. There has been a lot of people here that have posted about problems and politics here lately, I am not part of any of that crap. I have no time for the petty nonsense it generates.
Good luck with your car but please don't ask me for help if you have a problem. I'm sure you can get by without me.

At least that side yoke, and probably the other one, is knackered mate! with all this excitement you've been having I hope you got this vette cheap
Sorry, only joking
That's a fairly common failure on these. Most here would say that diff needs rebuilding asap, some here would say leave it and forget about it. Personally I'd go with the rebuilding option, because if something was to happen to your strut rod you'll no longer have anything holding the wheel in! Also, when the yokes are severely worn you can never get the wheels aligned properly. Trouble is it's not a five minute job, and it's only really apparent what's going to need replacing once the diff's out of the car and apart. You're a wee bit to far up north mate.... I've tooled up to do these and the 80-82 diff rebuilds and would gladly offer my help, but it'd cost a bit to post that lump down to me!

No worries.
Depends where you normally go for the test I guess, but you might have a hard time explaining it to him as being "normal"!
I've personally never driven one with missing circlips like yours has, but I would imagine it might feel a bit squirrely on certain bends, on the other hand, you might never notice a problem.
Good luck with it!

Check out corvettefaq.com - Gary's (GTR1999) papers are there.
He is a wealth of information. I have done a lot of work on my restoration with his "FREE" help.
I have been a member since Nov 2006 and have watched a lot of BS go down.
But Gary has always remainded a true professional and a gentleman.
So to anyone trying to bash him - YOU OWE HIM AN APOLOGY!
To the OP - good luck with your repair!
Peace
Bman
