Default Performance Engine builders

Looking for feedback on engine builders. Found a group called Pro-Formance Unlimited out of Ocean, New Jersey. Has anyone bought from this group or have knowledge of their reputation. They advertise a 502-600HP that would work great in my current vet project. Any first hand experience with this company may answer some of my questions. And yes, I know about the big block for sale on this forum. Thanks in advance.

Buy a 502 from GM and put in a decent cam and minor head cleanup and you will get 600 HP easy. I don't know about the company you listed but 600 HP from a 502 is not real hard to do.

try www.golenengineservice.com i bought my 383 through them two years ago. i've been very satisfied.. they have an exellent warranty....

I wouldn't buy a crate motor off the internet, if you want a 502 get it from GM at least you know the parts they say are in the motor are there

Something to keep in mind ... impressive HP claims often accomplished with hi-rise intake manifold ... most hi-rise do not fit 'neath most C3 hoods.

You are correct on that observation. I will be under a big block hood and necessary modifications do not bother me on this project. The only thing half way original will be the corrosion inside my frame. For the kind of money these people get for a performance engine, I will certainly be present for the dyno run and tune. For that reason, I was looking for a reputable builder within reasonable driving distance of Virginia. A days drive would be a small price to pay for peace of mind plus no shipping charges.

That motor is $12,500. The 548 is reduced to $8500. But if you go that route you will have to spend the $4000 you save on a Tom's Differential.

Your probably better off spending $4000 more for 180 less HP then. Good luck with your project.
