Default Best shocks for a C3

Well I've got the swaybars, wheels, and tires now, next step are the shocks, in my suspension project. I love the edelbrock IAS's I put on my step fathers 86 Z-51, but I can't find them for the 73. I'd like to keep the price under a 100 bucks a shock if possible but looking for the best in that price range, handling and control are the big issues, riding comfort isn't that big of a deal to me but would be nice. What would my fellow C3'ers recommend? I'm not forgetting about the springs in this deal, I just have to put them on hold while my funds recover from the wheels and tires.

Try KYB gas adjust I have them and they are not expensive and handle very well.

I installed Bilteins on my 68 many years ago and recommend them highly. As far as I'm concerned, their quality is top-notch. After 10 years, not one has had a problem. I believe I paid $200 for all four back then,

I have had a set of Tokico brand shocks for a long time. I read about them in a Corvette Fever magazine article about C3 suspension improvement. I’m by no means a shock absorber “guru” so I can’t offer any words of wisdom on the subject.
Here’s a link to their web site. http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/index.html

Don´t forget KONI...
I´ve Bilsteins on my car right now, but I wish I´d have Konis because they are adjustable.
Front shocks can be adjusted in place, rear shocks must be removed....
I´m looking for shocks which are both adjustable while in place.
Carrera shocks do really look good and I know that a friend of me has them in his race car, but that´s out of interest due to the price, I think...
Best value for money on a normal street vehicle is Bilstein, IMO
There are some specially valved ones out there which were adjusted for the use with fiberglas rear springs. Check them out

Well I DON"T like KYB's, I think they are cheap posers for real shocks. I need to get them off my car :U

Guldstrand recommends Bilstines...

IMHO KYB's are junk. I had two of them go bad. Went to Koni's no problems. :)

I have the KONI gas charge shocks, and they did improve handling.

I've been looking at the HAL shocks recently sound awfully good and 12 way externally adjustable (with a ****), but pricey at 140 a piece  , I may consider these for rear shocks to get descent squat at the track but can be firmed up for cornering. there on pg. 204 of the Summit catalog if anyone wants to look. still probably going with the bilsteins but I may consider these depending on financing at the time.

Look for the HAL QA1 shocks -- they are 12 position externaly adjustable. They are available through Summit racing or here is their web page. http://www.halshocks.com/start.html

I would go with Bilsteins. They are what I have on my 79 and they work great.

Bilstein Sports on my 68, up from KYB's a few years ago. The KYB shocks gave a softer ride, but the Bilsteins were a major improvement in handling, cornering(lots of twisties here), and the front of the car doesn't nosedive during hard braking

VBP has them on sale every now and then

The KONI single adjustables are the best money I've spent on Corvette shocks. Yes, they must be removed to be adjusted, they're worth the effort.
