For those who have done this or had it done, I looked at a 75 that had the chrome "T" bar pushed up on the passenger side 1/4" from rust. This is above the windshield. I expect that I have to remove the T trim and SS trim to get a look at it. The visor screws are loose in the frame and there are signs of rust staining on the inside of the door by the trim tag. How much have you guys spent on this kind of repair? or what tools(welder type) are required. This will play a big part in the selling price.
Thanks,
Gary
you may be looking at bird cage repair...if there is major rust down behind the kick panels, you might have to remove the front end clip to do the repair job the only way I have seen to do it.
I can't think of any other major work involved in fixing something like that...in fact to me thats the most major repair job aside from replacing your frame.
I wouldn't consider it a small job but I would not be afraid of it. It really depends on how bad it is. The panel across the top of the widshield seems to go first judging by cars I've looked at. If just that piece needs replacing then it's not that bad of a job (taking the windshield out would be a pain though). Look in the door jambs at the door curve area (where the weatherstrip stops). If you see rot there, it's gonna be a big job. You could also remove the interior piece that goes along the side of the window to see how that piece looks.
