you may recall that my 383 pulled the dist. gear and i was tearing it apart. well this has been my most depresing yr. so far and am just now getting to the vette. pulled the pan and all looks well. the gear must have ground itself down slowly as there were few chunks but plenty of fine dust in the oil. i am gouging the hell out of my intake and will be firing it up after vacation. am installing new oil pump, and the cam is staying in. wish me luck
