Default Muncie Drain Plugs

I have my M-20 out of the car while I wait for my motor. I decided to change the fluid. The problem is I can't loosen the drain or filler plug. I am concerned about putting to much pressure on the plug and breaking it or the case. Has anyone else had this problem?

My plugs were very tight as well. I don't think they had been off in 20 years.
I used a large adjustable(Kenworth sized ) wrench and they came off without damaging anything. When I reinstalled them I used a little plumbers tape and just did them up snug

A five foot pipe on the end of the wrench did the job.

The fluid looked like crap. Even though it only had about 1,000 miles on it, it was in the tranny for 15 years

Sears sells 8 point 5/8" sockets that will remove the plug without making it look like it was chewed by moon mice! (Remember Rocky and Bullwinkle?)

I don't even remember how I got mine out, but I pretty much massacred it. All I remember is being happy that the part was still available and easy to get. (Replacement drain plug, that is)

While my M21 was out I bought a seal and gasket set for it, took the side cover off to check condition, all was well so I flushed out the inside with a couple of cans of brake clean, replaced all the seals and reassembled..

Use a litle heat around the plug with a propane torch....oxy-acetylene would be even better and faster. The aluminum will expand and let plug come loose without destroying things.

That's how I took mine off too (didn't do the plumber's tape thing when putting them back in though).

You can use permatex high temp thread sealant as well, it seals better with the heat in the area.
